‘Grenades’: Amber Heard accuses Johnny Depp of hell during Gold Coast trip, as she gives evidence in court

Amber Heard has claimed in court that Johnny Depp threw bottles at her like they were ‘grenades’ during a three-day ordeal on the Gold Coast.

Heard claims she was Depp's 'punching bag' for years

Amber Heard claimed in court Johnny Depp threw 30 bottles at her like they were “grenades” during a “three day hostage situation” on the Gold Coast.

London’s High Court was also told that Mr Depp tried to suffocate Ms Heard with a pillow.

The allegations emerged during Ms Heard’s third day in the witness box in Mr Depp’s libel case against The Sun newspaper for a 2018 article that called him a “wife beater.”

The court also heard text messages from Mr Depp to Ms Heard’s nurse, whom he hired, where he said that he had told them to give her drugs to “calm her down.”

And a makeup artist who worked Ms Heard before an appearance on James Corden US late night talk show told the court that she had put concealer on bruises and bright red lipstick to cover a cut lip.

Ms Heard claims Mr Depp caused the injuries when he allegedly headbutted her in December 2015.

In explosive testimony, Ms Heard detailed claims that Mr Depp threw 30 bottles at her during a rampage during which the top of his finger was cut off.

“He started picking up bottles one by one and using them like grenades, like bombs, throwing them one after another, right in my direction,” she said.

“I felt glass breaking behind me, I retreated more into the bar and he didn’t stop. I could feel glass hitting my arms.

“He threw all the bottles that were within reach, all except one, a magnum of wine, out of 30 or so on the bar.”

Eleanor Laws, QC, challenged Ms Heard, claiming instead that she had thrown bottles at Mr Depp, saying her evidence was “lies”.

“You took a bottle and threw it at his head. When you threw the bottle at his head, it smashed the mirror behind him,” she said.

“You threw another bottle really hard and forcefully at him and his hand was on the countertop. It severed his finger.”

Ms Heard denied that she had cut off Mr Depp’s finger with a broken bottle.

“I would be shocked if Johnny remembers any of this himself, but I was there,” she said.

The Aquaman actress, 34, also denied that she had knowingly taken her dogs Pistol and Boo to Australia in breach of quarantine laws.

Former Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce demanded that she be investigated for perjury after it was alleged that she had asked Mr Depp’s personal assistant to falsify a document.

Ms Heard, who pleaded guilty to falsifying customs documents and was fined $1000 in Southport Magistrates Court in 2016, denied she deliberately broke the law.

“No, I thought we had the proper paperwork,” she said.

“I didn’t need anyone to lie for me, why would I? I plead guilty.”

Melanie Inglessis, a makeup artist and friend of Ms Heard, said she had to cover bruises and a cut lip that Ms Heard had suffered with makeup and red lipstick before an appearance on James Corden’s US talk show.

Ms Inglessis also said Ms Heard told her that Mr Depp “tried to suffocate her with a pillow … those were her words”.

The court also heard text messages from Mr Depp to nurse Erin Boerum on July 16 2016.

“I was the one who asked for you to calm her down and keep her under control, not because she was kicking drugs,” he said in the message.

“It was to take her pressure away from me, the same reason that I hired her shrink who, by the way, only made her worse.”
