BLUE Ivy Carter is following in mum Beyonce‘s stylish — and expensive — footsteps.

The 4-year-old rocked an US$820 (AU$1106) Mischka Aoki feathered skirt at the CFDA Fashion Awards this week. The pricey piece, which she paired with a black top and a white blazer, is a permanent part of the little girl’s closet — she didn’t borrow it from the designer.

Blue walked the red carpet with dad Jay Z to see her mum take home the coveted Fashion Icon Award, and was spotted snapping photos with a bejewelled cell phone in the audience.

Beyonce’s moving speech at the event touched on how fashion is in her blood, describing her grandmother working as a seamstress and her mother, Tina Knowles, designing Destiny’s Child’s costumes and sewing them by hand. “Like my grandmother,” Beyonce said, “she used her talent and her creativity to give her children their dreams.”

Blue has big shoes to fill, but it looks like she’s getting there just fine.
