A FORMER star of the UK TV drama series Eastenders has revealed she is homeless and living in sheltered accommodation with her children.

Daniella Westbrook, who originally played the character Samantha Mitchell in the BBC series that began in 1985, claimed she was forced to reveal her dire situation after her plight was to be revealed by a magazine.

Westbrook, 41, is living in temporary accommodation awaiting local authority assistance to obtain a property as the actor can no longer afford to live in her house in Kent, South East England, the Mirror reported.

Westbrook, whose marriage to Kevin Jenkins ended after 12 years of marriage in January, is living with her 18-year-old son, Kai and daughter, Jody, 13.

Westbrook, whose cocaine addiction was revealed in May 2000 when she was photographed with a missing septum, is also reported to have pawned her wedding rings after running out of money and has confessed to started using cocaine again in October after suffering a miscarriage.

Westbrook has also suffered a series of robberies at her former home and feared her car had been stolen during a third break-in before discovering it had being repossessed over missing payments.

Westbrook has blamed the fame of appearing in Eastenders — she was 16 when she got the part — for her downfall.

“I was always in clubs and everyone was doing coke and it was glamorous — except obviously, it wasn’t at all. I was just very young, very stupid and very easily led ... I think there should be someone at EastEnders to say to young people when they come in, ‘Look, your life is about to change, you’re going to be invited to things, and you’ll be offered drugs.’ Someone who can tell them what sort of people are about, and what sort of papers, and how quickly what you’ve worked for all those years can be gone,“ Westbrook told The Observer in May 2002.
