Father of Madonna’s son says he’s concerned for boy’s welfare

DAVID Banda’s father has suggested his child would be better off living in poverty rather than with the Queen of Pop.

THE strain of her bitter custody battle with ex-husband Guy Ritchie over their son Rocco has sparked Madonna’s erratic behaviour on stage.

Now, to add to her stress, the biological father of her other son, David Banda, is suggesting the Malawian would be better off living in poverty rather than with the Queen of Pop, The Sun reports.

Yohane Banda, who gave David up for adoption in 2006, is furious that his child has been caught in the crossfire between Madonna and Guy. It follows The Sun’s recent report that Madge blocked David’s visit to London over Easter for fear he wouldn’t return to New York, like his brother Rocco.

In an exclusive interview from his two-bed grass-thatched home built from burnt bricks and mud in the remote village of Chipunga, Yohane said: “Madonna and Guy’s custody battle turning bitter and nasty is a huge concern.

“I’d like to know what’s going on behind closed doors and why Rocco wanted to leave his mum and live with his dad like that.

“What I have heard about Madonna’s lifestyle since her divorce from Guy sounds quite shocking.

“Her having much younger boyfriends isn’t in line with Malawian culture at all. David would not be exposed to that sort of thing here. It’s not how we live. We have strong family values.

“Although we live a simple life, there’s never things like huge arguments between the parents at home. Everyone is happy and smiling and laughing all the time.

“My children are all very close and have lots of fun together, which is how life should be for brothers and sisters.

“One child living in New York and another in London sounds like an unhappy situation to me.”

Turmoil over her family crept into the latter stages of Madonna’s Rebel Heart world tour, which was dogged by controversy.

She called Guy a c*** on stage in Nashville, and appeared to be under the influence of booze and pulled down the top of a 17-year-old female fan, revealing her breast, during gigs in Australia.

Madge also used her shows to emphasise her love for Rocco, dedicating the song Intervention to him while dressed as a clown during her intimate Tears Of A Clown gig in Melbourne.

The singer has been a great mum to David and Mercy, her other adopted ten-year-old from Malawi. She was snapped taking them both to school in New York at the weekend, gripping David’s hand while walking her pet dog.

Her unpredictable behaviour on tour hasn’t been lost on Yohane, who is expecting a fifth child with wife Flora this August.

But should his son not return to Malawi, the peasant farmer would choose for him to remain with Madonna rather than Guy — who he claims “wasn’t interested” in adopting him in the first place.

Yohane said: “My understanding is that it is Madonna who took my son, so I do not expect that to change.

“I don’t want David to follow Rocco’s decision to go and live with Guy now either. I never got the impression that Guy was interested in adopting David.

“It was Madonna who wanted to take David to live with her.

“The only reason I let Madonna adopt David was because she promised me she would give him a good education and then he could come home to live with me.

“Guy never showed he had any interest in David when I met him in court.

“Also that would be a departure from our agreement that Madonna would take David, give him an education and return him back to me later.”

With Madonna involved, I doubt it will be that straightforward.
