New details have emerged about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s multimillion-dollar Netflix reality show.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hired the director of The Handmaid’s Tale to shoot their multimillion-dollar docu-series with Netflix.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who stepped down from royal duties last year, have reportedly hired Liz Garbus for their reality show which they have been working on for a year, according to Page Six.

Garbus, who was also due to work on the Duchess’ kid series Pearl before it was scrapped by Netflix, helmed the last season of The Handmaid’s Tale, which earned her an Emmy nomination in 2021.

Her cameras were spotted in September during Harry and Meghan’s trip to New York, where they appeared to “hide their equipment” to “keep the project under wraps”.

Reports of the couple’s alleged docu-series sparked major concerns at Buckingham Palace, with fears over what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex could drop about the royal family in front of the cameras.

According to Page Six, the streaming giant allegedly hopes to release at the end of the year in order to coincide with the publication of Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir.

However, some sources suggest that the Sussexes are holding the docu-series until next year.

Meghan Markle’s image is ‘plummeting’ in the US as ‘bewildered’ fans question why the Duchess keeps her royal title despite ‘speaking out so much against the monarchy’, according to The Sun.

Following a new YouGov poll, just 45 per cent now have a “favourable or somewhat favourable” view of the Duchess of Sussex.

Nile Gardiner, a royal expert revealed: “The popularity of Meghan and Harry in the US has declined significantly over the course of the year, and that will continue to decline.

“The image of Meghan is plummeting in the US as it is in the UK.

“The Queen is hugely admired in the US, as is Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge.

“Meghan’s image is significantly falling in the US.”

Mr Gardiner also claimed Royal Family fans in the US are “bewildered” as to why Meghan still retains her Duchess of Sussex title.

He said: “Many Americans are bewildered as to why she is still the Duchess of Sussex when she speaks out so much against the monarchy. There is no good reason she still holds a royal title.”

Another royal expert has claimed the monarchy could fall apart should Buckingham Palace unveil their Meghan Markle review.

Express.co.uk reports that Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent Jack Royston said on The Royal Report podcast that releasing the findings of a review into the Duchess’ supposed bullying would appear bad for all sides.

He said: “I think basically if that report were published it would be a complete bloodbath on all sides and nobody would come out of it looking any good at all.

“I think Buckingham Palace will have taken one look at this and thought ‘we’re just going to look awful — this is going to make us look absolutely appalling’ and if every single fact and allegation came out I just think it would be a complete mud fight and there would be mud over everybody.”

It comes as royal biographer Andrew Morton revealed that Prince Harry never makes a decision without first thinking what is mother would have wanted.

The expert described Harry and William as the “torchbearers” for Diana’s memory, and highlighted how the late Princess changed the royals forever.

Morton told the Mirror: “I think that Diana’s influence has lasted longer than anybody thought because her torchbearers in life, William and Harry, have not forgotten her and have held concerts in her memory.

“Harry himself says that he never makes a decision without referring it to her in a spiritual sense.

“She marked a turning point in the way the Royal Family behaved and through her behaviour helped to modernise and make more human the Royal Family.

“So it wasn’t big handbags, white gloves and stand-offish. It was more touchy-feely than it had ever been in the past. So she made the Royal Family more relevant to modern times.”
