Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish wore unusual outfits at this award show – but all eyes were on Avril Lavigne making a rare red carpet outing.

Pop-punk star Avril Lavigne made a rare red carpet appearance at Variety Hitmaker’s Brunch in Los Angeles over the weekend.

The What The Hell singer disappeared from the public eye for several years as she waged a private health battle, but is back with a new single called Bite Me.

She wore a suitably punky black jacket to the event, which she threw open on the red carpet to reveal a figure-hugging black corset underneath.

It’s almost 20 years since Avril burst onto the music scene with Complicated back in 2002 – but the 37-year-old doesn’t seem to have aged a day.

Elsewhere, Billie Eilish donned perhaps the most unusual look of the event – a voluminous, plum-coloured, floor-length coat.

Lana Del Rey, who won the Decade Award inside the event, also stepped out in an unusual ensemble, teaming a tight green mini-dress with an oversized bomber jacket.

Elsewhere in this weekend’s red carpet wash-up, loved-up couple Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly pulled a typically OTT stunt at the launch party of his new unisex nail polish line.

Wearing matching black ensembles, the pair rocked up to the red carpet actually chained together.

But the chain wasn’t between handcuffs – it extended between matching 3D snakeskin nails.
