JULIA Roberts broke all the red carpet rules when she went barefoot and beautiful at the Cannes Film Festival yesterday.
Roberts, who walked the ruby rug sans shoes, was attending the premiere of Money Monster, which also stars George Clooney, Domic West and Caitriona Balfe and was directed by Jodie Foster.
Roberts looked stunning in her long black Armani gown, but when she lifted it up to ascend the stairs, to everyone’s surprise, it was revealed that she was barefoot.
Meanwhile Amal Clooney’s husband might be a famous movie star but she almost outshone him.
The human rights lawyer almost suffered a wardrobe malfunction as she struggled with the train of her long flowing yellow gown.
The stunning one-shoulder Grecian-inspired dress had a deep slit which proved a bit much for Amal to arrange of the red carpet.
Amal, 38, wowed the crowds as she put on a loved-up display with her hubby as she made her Cannes debut at the Palais des Festivals et des Congres.
George, 55, looked dapper in a black tuxedo and supported Amal as she navigated her way up the steps covered in red carpet to the screening.
Amal wasn’t the only one leading the style stakes as Hollywood star Julia Roberts oozed classic film star glamour in a black off-the-shoulder ball gown with a plunging neckline.
She wore her hair natural and loose and accessorised her gown with a diamond chain necklace with an emerald pendant.
Former Victoria’s Secret model Caitriona Balfe, 36, showed off her figure in a slick black gown with a deep revealing neckline that grazed her naval and showed off her cleavage.
She wore her hair in a tight bun and had minimal accessories.
Elsewhere, Jodie Foster opted for a navy gown but jazzed it up with
silver embellishment on top.
Also looking dapper in their suits were Dominic West and Jack O’Connell.
Meanwhile, the Sun revealed today that things got heated between Jodie and George on set of the upcoming thriller in which George plays a TV host held hostage in his studio by a man who lost money in the economic crash.
A source revealed: “George is a director too and disagreed with some of Jodie’s ways.
“It is her first big production as a director and she wanted to do it her way. There was very little changing her opinion. There were plenty of arguments and their relationship turned sour.”
