Everyone’s a critic when it comes to the Met Gala – but usually, those of us doing the criticising are members of the general public, not actresses who’ve attended several former Galas.
Not so former Girls actress Jemima Kirke, who threw caution to the wind this week and shared her savage verdicts on many of the Met Gala’s biggest looks via her Instagram stories.
She didn’t hold back. Here’s what Kirke had to say about the following looks to her near-500,000 Instagram followers:
Lorde: “Make. An. Effort. Please.”
Megan Fox: “Truly a good look for a porn award ceremony.”
Emily Blunt: “No star crowns past age 24.” And later: “I’ve changed my mind. No star crowns past aged 7.” She also called the look a “tired Pinterest staple.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her controversial “TAX THE RICH” dress: “Irony is my least favourite fashion POV.”
Hailey Bieber: “Date night dress. On a Tuesday. Second date dress. Impromptu Dinner round the corner dress.”
Grimes: “Again. Please make an effort.”
So whose outfits did she like? Kim Kardashian’s zoot suit ensemble got a surprising thumbs up: Apparently she “always gets it right.” And Billie Eilish: “Heaven. (Best rack in the game).”
In a world where most celebs are terrified to say anything negative about each other, you’ve at least got to admire her honesty. And for the record, here’s Kirke herself at two of the previous Met Galas she’s attended:
Umm... good for her!
