TEEN muso Calum Hood doesn’t seem to have received the memo about not smoking at petrol stations.
The 5 Seconds of Summer bass player and backing vocalist was busted on Saturday smoking a ciggie as he pumped fuel into a mate’s car at a service station near Wet & Wild in Sydney’s west. Even taking into account it was only his 19th birthday yesterday, it was still an unwise move.
According to BP, “petrol is a volatile, highly flammable liquid that gives off vapours. It’s important to never smoke, light a match or stub a cigarette out, especially around pumps or fuel containers. You also shouldn’t leave cigarettes burning in your car’s ashtray.”

Hood partied that night with 5SOS bandmate Luke Hemmings and a bunch of his other Sydney friends, including fellow boy band Little Sea.
Other band mates Ashton Irwin and Michael Clifford have already flown to LA, with Hood and Hemmings expected to head to the US this week.
It was a weekend of partying though for Hood and Hemmings, who joined Little Sea again for a night out on Sunday.
Despite 5 Seconds of Summer being one of the biggest groups in the world, the Australian trademarks office last week rejected the bands application to trademark their famous nickname, 5 SOS.
