Celebrity trainer James Smith’s war of words with TV dietitian Susie Burrell

They both help people in the battle of the bulge, but celebrity trainer James Smith has taken aim at TV dietitian Susie Burrell over her eating advice.

Obesity costs economy nearly $12 billion

Celebrity trainer James Smith has slammed TV dietitian Susie Burrell for sharing the three danger times of the day people should avoid eating if they want to lose weight.

Burrell shared supplement fact research from the UK in a piece for breakfast show Sunrise that was picked up widely online, stating danger times of 11.01am, 3.14pm and 9.31pm.

“What the f. k is this?” Smith said in a video shared to his one million Instagram followers.

“Imagine you conduct research on the Sydney CBD, we found that the majority of people’s calories came at midday … cause it is their f. king lunch break.”

In the editorial, Burrell warned dieters are in danger of consuming an extra 750 calories a day by eating during the high-risk periods.

“The survey found dieters consumed an extra 750 calories per day during these high-risk periods, which were associated with a morning trip to the coffee shop, the afternoon tea run and a regular after-dinner binge,” Burrell said.

“So if you fall victim to coffee shop treats or sweet cravings after dinner, here is how to take control and slash your calorie intake during these times.”

Smith also dismissed Burrell’s claim that dieters should start the day with a big breakfast.

“If people want to lose fat, they need to be looking at controlling the total amount of calories they have in a day,” Smith said.

“I am not anti-breakfast. I’m not pro-breakfast.

“Intermittent fasting is skipping a meal, which is great for a lot of people that need to lose weight.”
