Russell Brand once boasted about “snogging” Meghan Markle.
The British comedian, 48, claimed he kissed the Duchess of Sussex on-set of his 2010 movie Get Him to the Greek in which the former actress had an uncredited role.
Brand made the bold claim in a TV interview just days before Meghan and Harry’s 2018 royal wedding.
“She [Meghan] was in a film that I was in, Get Him to the Greek, it was a good film,” Brand said on daytime chat show Loose Women.
“Meghan Markle, didn’t know at the time because she wasn’t married to a royal person.
“I don’t remember the film that much, I think I planted one on her in the scene.
“It was scripted in the scene. I only know this because I think I saw a clip of it somewhere. Meghan Markle, there we go.”
The scene Brand referred to doesn’t appear to have made it into the film, leading some to question whether it actually happened.
Meghan, 42, has never commented on Brand’s claim.
It comes as Brand is at the centre of multiple sexual abuse allegations, which became public at the weekend in a joint investigation by UK media outlets Channel Four and Sunday Times.
The actor, who has two young daughters, got on the front foot ahead of the media reports, sharing a lengthy YouTube video revealing he stood accused of “very serious criminal allegations”. He added he denied all allegations, and said the stories were a “co-ordinated attack”.
The accusations were made by four women, who allege the crimes happened between 2006 and 2013.
“These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies,” Brand said in his video, posted on Saturday.
“And as I’ve written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that.
“Then almost too transparent, and I’m being transparent about it now as well. And to see that transparency metastasised into something criminal that I absolutely deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?”
