Prince William’s furious reaction to Prince Harry’s royal return: ‘No chance’

Prince William has reportedly issued a brutal directive after Harry’s emergency dash back to the UK and hints at a royal return.

Prince William has reportedly shot down the suggestion that Prince Harry could re-enter the royal fold in the wake of their father’s cancer diagnosis, telling friends there is “no chance” of it happening.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, made an emergency solo dash to the UK last week after being told of King Charles’ illness, and it has since been suggested that he may step up to help his brother in sharing the load while he undergoes treatment.

“Harry is ready and willing to help and genuinely believes it would work well for both parties. In his view, it wouldn’t be dissimilar from what was proposed back in 2020, with a hybrid model of working,” a source, reportedly close to Harry, told The Mirror.

“With the King’s illness there is perhaps more of a reason for those options to be considered.”

The prospect bears similarities to the hybrid role first pitched by Harry and Meghan when they announced their intention to “step back” as working royals in 2020 – an idea which was ultimately rejected by Queen Elizabeth II.

But while Harry has made it clear he’s open to mending the relationship with his estranged family, it’s been widely reported that William has no interest in speaking to or working with him – and has told friends that he and Meghan “cannot be trusted”.

The Prince of Wales has reportedly held private meetings with his father in Sandringham, where the King is recuperating, and made his position clear.

“Whatever has been discussed between William and the King is private, but it is absolutely and categorically clear that he (William) would not allow Harry to return. He thought it was a bad idea at the time and he’s even more clear now,” a palace insider told The Mirror.

“If anyone is going to take on more duties it will be William and that isn’t even on the agenda for now. His main focus is on his father’s health, his family and what is best for the monarchy. There is a zero per cent chance Harry is coming back in any capacity.”

It comes after Harry gave a new interview to Good Morning America from an Invictus Games launch event in Canada, where he spoke warmly of his brief reunion with the King.

“I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him – I’m grateful for that.”

When the reporter suggested family illness’ can have a “reunifying effect”, and asked if Harry thought that was “possible in this case”, the duke responded positively: “Yeah, I’m sure.”

He added: “I’ve got other trips planned that would take me through the UK or back to the UK, and so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

Meanwhile, bruising new details about Harry’s brief UK visit have emerged, with The Sun alleging that palace aides prevented him from joining the King at Sandringham as they feared they’d “never get rid of him”.

The publication claims that he’d actually hoped to join his father for a few days at Sandringham, but was told to visit Clarence House in London instead – and then book himself a hotel for the night.

“Harry came over to see his father, expecting to go to Sandringham. But instead he was asked to be at Clarence House and was restricted to 30 minutes,” a source told The Sun.

“The fear was that if he went to Sandringham they would never get rid of him.”

Harry’s apparent push toward reconciliation with the royal family follows years of increasing tension amid he and Meghan’s no-holds-barred interviews, Netflix series, and his memoir, Spare.

While most of the royal family was caught in the firing line of public criticisms at some point, arguably the most damaging allegations were levelled at the Prince and Princess of Wales.

As a result, the relationship between Harry, Meghan, William and Kate is looking unlikely to ever be recovered.

And the Wales’ have had plenty on their plate in recent weeks, with Kate experiencing a mystery medical condition which saw her undergo abdominal surgery in January and remain hospitalised for a fortnight.

She will remain off work and out of the public eye until “at least Easter” as she recovers.
