Prince Andrew’s friend Lady Victoria Hervey reveals more about disgraced royal

An ex-girlfriend of Prince Andrew has revealed more about his mental state after his recent downfall as a royal.

Lady Victoria Hervey has revealed she still has a “friendship” with Prince Andrew, and said he “is just so depressed”, although would not elaborate.

The socialite, who briefly dated the disgraced prince in the 1990s, was interviewed on the 7NEWS Spotlight program as part of a pre-coronation special.

She has spoken out publicly on numerous occasions in defence of Prince Andrew, who has come under fire for his friendship with the late convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein and has also faced his own allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour.

“The problem is he doesn’t know how to lie and he’s too direct,” she told the program.

“I met him back then and I never saw anything … they were like, around the same age … Back then, like, he would’ve been completely oblivious to anything.”

Lady Hervey said she knew he was “innocent”, but wouldn’t go into any detail of her relationship with Prince Andrew other than to say “mostly friendship”.

“He is just so depressed, you know, so, I think it is really important for him to … I don’t really want to get into it right now but mostly friendship.”

She also clammed up when asked about Prince Andrew’s former wife Sarah. “I really like, you know, his ex-wife, the duchess, as well, not fair what’s happened. I don’t want to talk about it on camera,” she said.
