Meghan Markle makes shock return to acting in Hollywood movie
Meghan Markle is filming a major movie with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars eight years after she quit acting.
Meghan Markle is making a shock return to Hollywood as she shoots a new movie with Emily in Paris star Lily Collins.
The Duchess of Sussex, who retired from acting eight years ago just before her engagement to Prince Harry, is filming scenes for the movie Close Personal Friends.
Meghan, who will play herself, has been shooting scenes for the Amazon MGM Studios production, which also stars Jack Quaid and Brie Larson, in Pasadena, Los Angeles, The Sun reports.
A studio source told The Sun: “This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves.
“She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right.
“It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.
“Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement
“Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”
Before marrying into the royal family, Meghan starred in the TV series Suits and also had small roles in the movies Horrible Bosses and Remember Me.
The Duchess grew up in LA, where dad Thomas Markle, from whom she is now estranged, worked as a lighting director on some of TV’s biggest shows.
Just months ago, Meghan admitted in a podcast chat that she “sometimes” missed acting.
“But you know what, actually, having a large team, being back on set with With Love, Meghan was great, because I realised how much I missed my crew. I love being around a crew,” she said on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast.
Meghan told host Grede that she was not able to say a proper goodbye to the crew on Suits, because she was secretly leaving the show ahead of her engagement to Prince Harry.
“It was such a unique time, because we couldn’t say that I was leaving, necessarily,” she said. “It was speculated. So, after seven years on the series, we couldn’t have a going away party. I couldn’t say my goodbyes … If my crew’s watching, I miss you guys. I wish I could have said bye.”
In his tell-all autobiography Spare, Prince Harry admitted he found it hard dealing with some of wife’s raunchier scenes in Suits.
“I’d witnessed her and a cast mate mauling each other in some sort of office conference room,” he wrote.
“It would take electric shock therapy to get those images out of my head.”
