Claims Meghan Markle is attempting to call her sick father as sister slams move
Conflicting claims have emerged over Meghan Markle’s reaction to her estranged father’s lifesaving surgery as her half-sister lashed out in a scathing tirade.
Meghan Markle has allegedly been ringing hospitals in the Philippines in an attempt to get hold of her sick father.
The royal, who has been estranged from her father for seven years, is trying to get in touch with Thomas Markle, 81, who has just undergone lifesaving surgery, according to The Sun.
He had his leg amputated this week and is thought to be a patient at the University of Cebu Medical Centre but it’s understood that he does not has his phone on him.
A source told the outlet that the Duchess of Sussex was calling up hospitals in the area herself to try and track him down.
The fresh attempts at contacting Thomas come after Meghan failed to get in touch with him over email, following the surgery news.
However Meghan Markle’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, has slammed Meghan’s attempts to reach out to him as a public stunt.
Samantha took to X with a series of tweets blasting the Duchess of Sussex and her alleged “PR bulls – t.”
In one entry, Samantha responded to a tweet reading, “Breaking: Meghan has today ‘reached out’ to Thomas Markle since his Philippines hospital drama. But. It is unclear yet if father and daughter have spoken for first time since 2018.”

“You’re also gullible,” Samantha, 61, wrote. “Believe it if he’s put on a private jet and put into one of the best hospitals in the United States for care. Until then don’t hold your breath. It’s likely a PR stunt because of public scrutiny.”
In another tweet, the older sister of the As Ever founder wrote, “Houston there’s been no contact … Time to stop the PR b******* Medusa.”
She added in a separate entry, “Having paparazzi lurking and bushes doesn’t constitute reaching out LOL.”
DAD’S URGENT PLEA TO MEGHAN
It came amid a war of words, with Meghan saying she had in fact emailed her father despite his claims that she “didn’t message” him.
Thomas had claimed the Duchess of Sussex failed to message him and pleaded with her to see him “one more time before I die”.
However, the Duchess of Sussex sent her estranged father an email following his health scare, The Sun reported.
But the email address reportedly hadn’t been active for five years, according to the Mail on Sunday.
Meghan’s spokesman told The Sun: “I can confirm she has reached out to her father.”
Thomas Markle has never met Meghan’s children, Archie and Lilibet and he told the Mail on Sunday he wanted to meet them and his son-in-law, Prince Harry, “before it’s too late”.
“I don’t want to die estranged from Meghan. I want to meet my grandkids. It might be nice to meet her husband too,” he said.
He denied that Meghan had contacted him after his surgery and added he “would love to speak with her”.
He added that he was “open to reconciling with my daughter” and “never stopped loving her”.
Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Jr, had previously told the Daily Mail the family have heard nothing from the Sussexes since his dad was admitted to hospital near his home in he Philippines.
Thomas Markle had been living in Mexico for a decade before relocating to the Philippines in January.
He and Meghan have been estranged since her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, when he failed to walk her down the aisle, prompting the then Prince Charles to step in.
“I would implore Meghan and Harry to reach out to Dad,” Thomas Jr said.
The concerned son added how his father is “heavily medicated” and “hooked up to all kinds of machines”.
Thomas Jr, 59, had said previously: “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger.”
He described how the ambulance rushed his dad to hospital.
He added: “My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life.”
