King Charles III has left hospital after surgery for an enlarged prostate.

He emerged on Monday afternoon, UK time, after spending three nights at the private London Clinic.

The King was all similes as he left the hospital accompanied by his wife Queen Camilla.

His departure came just a few hours after that of Catherine, Princess of Wales. But in contrast the to his public stride to a waiting car, the Princess’ exit from hospital was far more low key.

She had been at the private London Clinic for two weeks.

Charles had only expected to be in hospital for one night but he extended his stay for three nights.

He waved to crowds as he left the exclusive facility near London’s Harley Street, a centre for medial services.

Buckingham Palace has now said the King will rest upon and not undertake royal duties for several weeks.

“The King was this afternoon discharged from hospital following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled forthcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recuperation,” a Palace statement said.

“He would like to thank the medical team and all those involved in supporting his hospital visit, and is grateful for all the kind messages he has received in recent days.”

On Monday, Kensington Palace said Kate had returned home and was “making good progress”.

“The Prince and Princess wish to say a huge thank you to the entire team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care they have provided,” the royal statement said.

“The Wales family continues to be grateful for the well wishes they have received from around the world.”

In contrast to the King’s very public revelation of his condition, the princess has been tight lipped about what caused her hospital stay beyond that it was surgery in the abdomen. However, the palace did confirm it was not cancer related.

She is said to have plans to work from bed once she arrives home from her surgery.

William visited her every day at the London Clinic but the three children did not appear to go to the hospital during her stay.

Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, were said to have cleared their schedule to help with the children.
