Fresh allegations about explosive royal feud in Omid Scobie’s biography, Endgame
A fresh wave of damaging allegations surrounding Prince Harry’s feud with his brother have hit the royal family in a bombshell new book.

Prince Harry was left “in the dark” and “completely by himself” as he scrambled to get to his grandmother’s bedside in Scotland in the hours before her death, an explosive new book has claimed.
Author Omid Scobie claims to have spoken to sources close to Harry and Meghan Markle for fresh details on key moments within the royal family in recent years, which are all set to be revealed in Endgame, released later this month.
‘Upsetting to witness’
In an extract shared with People magazine, Scobie claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had had no idea that the Palace was already planning for the Queen’s final hours as they went about their engagements in the UK and Europe last September.
After picking up a call from an unknown number (“You should answer it”, Meghan allegedly told her husband), Harry was told by his father, then-Prince Charles, that he and Camilla were about to leave Dumfries House for Balmoral to be with the Queen.
Princess Anne was already there, and Harry should “make his way to Balmoral immediately”.
Scobie then claims that the duke was informed that Prince William was making arrangements for the family’s travel via a chartered jet, but when he reached out to his brother about joining the group, he was ignored.
The Sussexes were reportedly then left to “operate in the dark” with no communication from his family, despite being told that William had secured a flight with his uncles, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, along with Edward’s wife, Sophie.
“It was upsetting to witness,” Scobie quotes a source close to the Sussexes.
“[Harry] was completely by himself on this.”
“William ignored him,” another source said. “He clearly didn’t want to see his brother.”
When Harry eventually secured his own private jet to Scotland – Charles having firmly suggested Meghan stay behind – there was already widespread speculation that the Queen had passed away.
With no access to his father or brother, Harry allegedly was unable to verify the devastating news.
Upon finally landing later in the evening, Scobie claims, Harry was informed by Meghan that the BBC was reporting that his grandmother had passed hours earlier.
‘Huge amount of anger’
In another section of the book, Scobie claims that William has been telling everyone in his inner circle that Harry and Meghan “blindsided the family” with their public airing of their grievances, describing their “oh so California self-importance”.
According to the royal author, the Prince of Wales believes Harry has been “brainwashed by an army of therapists” and he “no longer recognises his own brother”.
Following the January release of the Duke of Sussex’s tell-all memoir Spare, in which William and Kate were regularly painted in an unflattering light, Scobie claims the Prince of Wales feels “a huge amount of anger”.
“He feels betrayed and sad about the situation. But he also doesn’t agree with the things his brother feels he has done,” a source close to William reportedly told Scobie.
“He feels he has lost Harry and doesn’t want to know this version of him.”
However, he adds, an insider from the Spencer family’s side had a more supportive view of Harry.
“Harry being a man who has stepped outside of the institution and sees things in a different light,” the source said.
“They will never see eye-to-eye at this point. They’re on completely opposite sides … that won’t change.”
For weeks, Buckingham Palace has been bracing for more impact with damaging new allegations set to come to light about the Duke of Sussex’s rift with the royal family – and specifically, his brother William – in the new biography.
It follows Scobie’s explosive 2020 book, Finding Freedom, which covered previously-unheard claims about the couple’s dramatic departure from the royal family earlier that year.
Endgame will be released on November 28.
The book extract comes just one day after details of Harry and Meghan’s private phone call with King Charles this week were revealed.
The Sun reported on Wednesday that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex broke six months of silence toward the royal family by contacting the monarch on Tuesday and wishing him a happy 75th birthday.
Charles’ birthday involved a jam-packed itinerary, but it’s understood he took a break to have a “friendly” catch-up with his son and daughter-in-law.
“The King was extremely busy but is polite and loves his son and his grandchildren, and not so mean that he would not take a call on his birthday,” a source told The Sun.
The icebreaking phone call confirms widespread reports on Monday that Harry was planning to contact his father.
Despite visiting Britain several times this year, the King’s younger son has not seen his father since their brief encounter during the coronation in early May – and they have not spoken face-to-face since the late Queen’s funeral last September.
According to The Sun, Tuesday’s phone call between the trio included plans to “speak again soon”, although the source added that there is still “a long way to go” in repairing the fractured relationship.
“There is still a long way to go to mend the rift created over many years — and the deeper issues caused by allegations in the Netflix series and Spare are not healed with a phone call,” the insider said, referring to Harry and Meghan’s docu-series and the duke’s tell-all memoir.
