“I finally got an agent. They said, ‘Your name is too ethnic.’ I go, ‘What do you mean? It’s Leonardo DiCaprio?’ They go, ‘No, too ethnic. They’ll never hire you,’” DiCaprio said, adding his agent boldly said, “Your new name is Lenny Williams.”

Both Travis and Jason broke into fits of laughter, with DiCaprio revealing he was just 12 at the time and so, he obliged.

“I go, ‘What is Lenny Williams?’ and they said, ‘We took your middle name [Wilhelm] and we made it your last name. Now you’re Lenny,” DiCaprio added.

It was only thanks to his father George DiCaprio that the completely different name change thankfully didn’t end up eventuating.

“My dad saw this [casting] photo, ripped it up and said, ‘Over my dead body,’” DiCaprio added.

DiCaprio’s co-star Benicio Del Toro, who was also on the interview, said the same thing also happened to him, with an agent trying to change his name to “Benny Del”.

Jason mused, “This podcast would not be the same with Lenny Williams and Benny Del, I’ll tell you that right now.”

Fans flooded the comment section of the video on Instagram in disbelief the two managed to score DiCaprio as a guest.

“You know you’ve made it when you can get LEO DICAPRIO to do an hour long podcast,” one wrote.

“This is proof we’re living in a simulation. A football podcast got the 2 most sought after celebrities in history, neither of which do interviews anymore, in the same quarter,” another said.

“I don’t know if I’ve seen an interview with Leo like this!,” another added.

DiCaprio and Del Toro are promoting their new movie One Battle After Another, which has quickly been dubbed the “best film of the year” and an “instant classic”.

Dozens of five-star rankings piled in last week in for Warner Bros’ new action thriller from acclaimed Boogie Nights and Magnolia director Paul Thomas Anderson.

The two-hour, 50 minute epic is inspired by the 1990 novel Vineland, following “washed-up revolutionary” Bob (DiCaprio), who is suffering stoned paranoia and surviving off-grid with his efficient daughter Willa (Chase Infiniti in her feature film debut).

Top critics have penned flawless reviews of the Ghoulardi Film-produced movie, with The Telegraph, Associated Press and The Guardian among outlets to grant it the highest possible ranking.

“What Anderson has turned out is something of a cinephile’s visual symphony. If there were Proms devoted to films instead of music in the future, One Battle After Another would be one of the first movies to join the repertoire. And yes, Oscars must be coming,” The Standard wrote.

Empire penned, “In years to come, when this appears on TV late at night, it’ll be impossible to switch off. It’s just one of those films. A stone-cold, instant classic.”
