Pop favourite Ellie Goulding and her husband Caspar Jopling have been spending time apart after hitting struggles in their marriage, four years after they tied the knot.
The hugely popular singer and her art dealer partner had been dating since 2017 and married two years later after a 12 month engagement, welcoming their son Arthur in 2021.
But, according to The Sun, after battling with hectic schedules their marriage has suffered and they are spending time separately.
However, they remain close as they continue to co-parent their son Arthur.
In recent months they have continued to be seen together with other friends, and even enjoy holidays with their son while continuing to share their marital homes leading pals to believe they may rekindle their marriage – but for now have decided that some space and time apart would be best for them.
A friend of the couple explained: “There have been ups and downs for a while, but they have always strongly felt they wanted to stay together so they could both be with their son.
“In the end they’ve tried to find a compromise where they continue to share lots of time together for their son Arthur, but outside of that sometimes live separate lives for now.
“There is no discussion of a divorce and neither of them have been in a new relationship – the priority is to keep good friends and remain amicable while they work out their next steps, so they can stay close and enjoy being mum and dad to Arthur.
“There will always be a lot of love between them despite some difficult times, and they want the best for each other.”
The news comes with Ellie’s career currently flying, thanks to her latest album, Higher Than Heaven, soaring straight to the top of the charts in the UK in April – equalling Adele’s record of four number one albums for a female singer.
In the same week a stand-alone single Miracle, a collaboration with Calvin Harris, topped the singles listings – earning her a rare chart double.
She boasts two Brit Awards, a Billboard Music Award and four UK number one singles including Love Me Like You Do and Burn.
Ellie and Eton-educated Caspar met through mutual friends including royal sisters Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, with the singer famously performing a cover of Elton John’s Your Song at Prince William and Kate’s royal wedding reception back in 2011.
Caspar, whose prominent family includes high ranking Conservative politicians and the art dealer Jay Jopling, had been living in New York after attending Harvard University before relocating back to the UK to wed – with a lavish reception at Yorkshire’s Castle Howard attended by guests including royal pals, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
A representative for the couple declined to comment on their separation.
