Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen have shared a friendly exchange on social media amid reports their $122 million divorce has turned nasty after the Aussie star’s candid comments about her post-split heartbreak.
The exes engaged with one another when Baron Cohen commented on Fisher’s Instagram post, which featured images from her sizzling photo shoot for The Sunday Times’ Style Magazine.
The raunchy photos accompanied the interview that allegedly left Baron Cohen feeling “betrayed” after Fisher spoke of how “the power of female friendship” was helping her as she grappled with post-marriage life.
“Stunning photoshoot,” the British actor wrote in response to a sultry image showing Fisher lying sprawled on a bed in a revealing pink dress.
Hours later, Fisher replied to Baron Cohen’s comment, writing, “Thank you” alongside a blushing emoji.
It came amid claims that the stars were at loggerheads, with Baron Cohen feeling “betrayed” by comments made by Fisher in The Sunday Times interview.
The former couple shocked fans by announcing last April that they had split in 2023 following 13 years of marriage.
Days before the bombshell announcement, however, Rebel Wilson had claimed in her autobiography, that Cohen had sexually harassed her when they worked together on their 2016 comedy Grimsby.
Wilson also claimed the Borat star had then attempted to block her memoir from being published – which he vehemently denied.
Cohen and Fisher have remained tight-lipped amid their ongoing divorce, but Fisher recently spoke about her personal life — with the Daily Mail claiming that Cohen is livid over her remarks.
Fisher spoke with The Sunday Times earlier this month to promote Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, in which she plays Rebecca, the next-door neighbour to Renee Zellweger’s iconic lead.
“The women in my life have held me,” Fisher told the outlet. “The female relationships that I cultivated in our business, those women have been there for me. I’m actually going to get emotional.”
“I’m sitting here today because of them. I’ve learnt so much about the power of female friendship and I’ve just learnt that I do have resilience, who I am outside of a partnership, and what my values are. It has been this expansive learning curve.”
Once Cohen learned of the interview, a source told Daily Mail that he interpreted the comments as a direct dig at him.
“This comment left Sacha furious,” a friend of his revealed.
“It felt like a blatant statement that she was on side with Rebel, the whole women sticking together thing was obvious and that is what he drew from the situation and it has made him very cross and upset.”
“Sacha was fuming when he read that,” they added. “He felt utterly betrayed.”
Sources also shared that Wilson’s claims were “very much” what caused their relationship breakdown.
After the news broke, Fisher felt she had to distance herself from her husband of 13 years.
“It might have been thinly veiled but it was enough to upset Sacha a lot, Isla very much appeared to be setting her stall out,” said the friend. “There may have been some issues before, but the allegations about how he made Rebel feel were a major factor – and it appears she wants anyone in the industry who will listen to know how she feels.”
The friend noted that the exes “have always been very private people so Isla speaking out was a massive shock to him, and a clear sign she isn’t going to be the doting wife anymore.”
The Post has reached out to Fisher and Cohen’s reps.
However, sources close to the former couple told The Post that the claims in the Daily Mail report are untrue.
Last April, Fisher revealed the two had separated.
“After a long tennis match lasting over 20 years, we are putting our racquets down,” she wrote at the time. “In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage. We have always prioritised our privacy and have been quietly working through this change.”
“We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
After Wilson’s claims hit, a spokesperson for Cohen told The Post her allegations were false.
“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during, and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby (as the movie was known in the US).”
But the Senior Year star hit back.
“Thanks so much to everyone who has sent gorgeous messages of support in the last few days and to those who share with me their stories of the a–hole!,” Wilson wrote on her Instagram Story.
“Don’t worry I won’t be bullied or threatened by this guy! And am working hard behind the scenes to make sure my book comes out!”
The Aussie added: “Ps my book is not ABOUT this guy – this is one chapter!”
