Ellen DeGeneres has abruptly cancelled several shows from what is billed as her final comedy tour ever.

Less than one month after kicking off her Ellen’s Last Stand…Up tour in San Diego on June 19, the comedian has cancelled four dates from her schedule of 27 shows across the US, which runs until August 17.

In a message posted to Ticketmaster site in the US, organisers did not give a reason for the cancellation, simply telling ticketholders they will be refunded in full.

“Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event,” the site stated.

“You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll issue a refund to the original method of payment used at time of purchase, as soon as funds are received from the Event Organizer. It should appear on your account within 14-21 days.”

As per Ticketmaster, the cancelled shows dates are July 10 in Dallas, July 21 in San Francisco, July 23 in Seattle, and August 11 in Chicago.

DeGeneres had been keeping a low profile since her self-titled TV talk show came to an end in 2022 after 19 season on air. However in May, she excitedly announced she was hitting the stand-up circuit for a farewell tour.

“Here it is! These are the cities and dates for my final stand-up tour,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Pre-sale starts tomorrow May 30th at 10am local time with code CHICKEN. Get your tickets at ellenshop.com/tour.”

A press release also read: “This [US] summer, she will grace stages across North America for the last time, delivering her iconic and hilarious performances. This will be the last opportunity for fans to witness a comedy legend in her final curtain call.”

The tour is also being filmed for Netflix, which is her second collaboration with the streamer. She first released her comedy special six years ago in 2018 with her the smash-hit, Relatable.

The special is also her first since her reputation took a hit in 2020, after several anonymous The Ellen DeGeneres Show employees came forward with allegations of racism, sexual misconduct, and hostility behind the scenes in a BuzzFeed exposé.

And it appears DeGeneres is due to address the toxic work environment claims in her upcoming shows.

“To answer the questions everyone is asking me – Yes, I’m going to talk about it. Yes, this is my last special. Yes, Portia really is that pretty in real life,” DeGeneres wrote in a statement.
