Drew Barrymore was not thinking of her future children back when she posed nude for Playboy — and she definitely didn’t know her NSFW pictures would live on in perpetuity on the internet.
On this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress-turned-talk show host tapped Natalie Portman for a game of “Pop Quiz,” in which she had to pop balloons containing a variety of questions, reports Decider.
When the first question asked Portman for one thing she’d never do for a role, she answered, “Show my boobs. Is that really prude? I’m just always like, ‘I don’t want my kids to see pictures online.’”
Barrymore insisted that it wasn’t a prude boundary — all while reflecting on her own experience posing nude for Playboy when she was 19 years old.
“I didn’t know there would be an online when I did it,” she admitted. “I was like, ‘Good luck finding that magazine under some weird guy’s bed in some random house! Oh no, it’s gonna be — OK!’”
The 50 First Dates star previously opened up about her Playboy cover during her February interview with Pamela Anderson.
“I was taking my power back,” she said of why she decided to pose for the magazine, before adding that she was “being a wild child and being free and discovering myself and growing up.”
Still, she didn’t know that she would someday have children who would be able to easily find the photos online.
“When I was doing Playboy and loving it and having so much fun and don’t regret a thing and love it, I didn’t know I’d have kids later,” Barrymore said, to which Anderson similarly admitted she didn’t do things in her life “thinking this is going to humiliate or embarrass my kids when I have them, if I have them.”
