Aussie dancer and choreographer Aaron Cash vividly remembers sharing the stage with legendary ballet star Mikhail Baryshnikov.
“I will say this for Misha. At the age of 45 he could still whip off 10-12 pirouettes like it was putting on a comfy pair of slippers,” says Aaron, who performed with Mikhail in the US in the mid-90s.
“And he could jump a good six inches over my head and I’m 6’2.”
In a career spanning more than three decades, Aaron, one of the original Tap Dogs, toured with Cher for ten years, featured as a dancer in blockbuster film Titanic, created acclaimed dance company Ballet Revolucion and most recently, starred as a judge on US talent show, The World’s Best alongside host James Corden and fellow judges Ru Paul, Drew Barrymore and Faith Hill.
Now Aaron is coming back to Adelaide, first for the The Advertiser Foundation’s sold out Unite4Kids luncheon at the HiltonAdelaide on June 13, then to perform his new show, Last Dance: The Forgotten Masters, at the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
“It’s a little dancing, singing, storytelling. It’s naughty, funny, sad. It’s a breath of fresh air with a hint of Scotch,” Aaron says of his new production, which will premiere in Adelaide.
2019 co-Australian of the Year Dr Richard Harris will be a guest speaker at the luncheon, which will be hosted by Cabaret festival artistic director Julia Zemiro and Seven’s Mark Soderstrom.
