‘Bullshit’: Ray Hadley’s huge spray at Alan Jones over Covid

Ray Hadley has launched an extraordinary spray at former colleague Alan Jones, suggesting politicians aren’t brave enough to stand up to the veteran broadcaster’s controversial views on Covid.

‘The real pandemic is rank political incompetence’: Alan Jones

Ray Hadley has launched an extraordinary spray at former colleague Alan Jones.

The 2GB mornings host hit out at Jones for supporting lockdown protests across the country and suggesting a 38-year-old woman died of a heart attack instead of Covid.

“I have observed Mr Jones very closely for 35 years. I have seen some of his strange behaviour, and I do mean strange behaviour in the past,” Hadley told listeners.

“Now this pandemic and his performance during this has allowed conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers like his old mate Pete Evans, who he does podcasts with occasionally, to gain support from a minority in the community who think the virus is nothing more than a flu.

“He has got to be identified and politicians aren’t brave enough to stand up and refute this.”

Hadley dedicated nearly 10 minutes of his show to addressing Jones’ comments on his Sky News program on Monday night.

He broke his critique into several main points, the first of which was Jones disputing 38-year-old Brazilian national Adriana Midori Takara’s cause of death being Covid. Instead, Jones suggested a cover-up and that she died of a stroke or heart attack.

“I can’t believe he said that,” Hadley said. “The woman has just died and you’ve determined she had a stroke or a heart attack. So we are suggesting that medical specialists at RPA conspired to suggest she didn’t die of Covid, that she had some other problem and they’ve conspired with NSW Health and the Federal and State Government’s. If it wasn’t so affected by lunacy, it would be a concern.”

Jones declined to comment when contacted by Confidential, other than to say he had not suggested any conspiracy by health officials, nor that he had supported the anti-lockdown protest. He also pointed out that he and Evans had never met in person, other than virtually when he was invited to be interviewed by him.

‘Half of what Alan says is very well researched, the other half is bullshit,” Hadley said.

Addressing another point, Jones said that while he felt sorry for NSW Mounted Police at Saturday’s rally, he defended a 33-year-old protester for striking a horse as self-defence and questioned the fact the man was subsequently charged with animal cruelty.

“Half of what Alan says is very well researched, the other half is bullshit,” Hadley said.

The “final nail in the coffin” for Jones, Hadley explained, was his attack on NSW Chief Medical Officer Dr Kerry Chant.

“Bumbling, village idiot and dumb, the Chief Medical Officer of NSW, continuing his long thought out attacks on women in positions of power,” Hadley noted of Jones comments. “It needs to be called out for what it is – scurrilous, contemptible and undignified – words that I have associated with him in many areas over a long period of time. His dealing with some young people that work with him, also reprehensible over a long period of time.”

Meanwhile, Hadley’s breakfast host colleague Ben Fordham has defended his use of the word ‘ridiculous’ to describe the government’s lockdown strategy after WSFM rival Amanda Keller claimed he and Alan Jones had ‘whipped up’ riots.

“To the person who complained because I dared use the world ridiculous, what can I say, guilty as charged,” Fordham said on air. “We receive all sorts of feedback … and yesterday someone complained that I described the month long, great, never ending Sydney lockdown as ‘ridiculous’.

“Apparently that sort of language is unhelpful at a time like this and just whips people up. My experience is people don’t need whipping up at the moment, they’re already angry and anxious and they don’t need a bloke sitting behind a microphone saying ‘everything’s just fine’ when hundreds of thousands of people don’t have a job.”
