Bondi Rescue at the Logies: ’We’ll beat the Bondi Vet for sure!’
THE Bondi Rescue crew are trading their surf lifesaver garb for red carpet finery as they aim to take home their seventh Logie this Sunday.
THEY’RE more accustomed to wearing thongs than tuxedos, but the Bondi Rescue crew will feel right at home when they hit the TV WEEK Logie Awards on Sunday night.
With Channel 7 tipped to take home the most gongs this year — with Sportsbet putting them at firm favourites at $2.25 — the Bondi Rescue gang are hoping they will buck that trend.
The Channel 10 show has won a whopping six silver Logies during their decade on air and are hopeful that this year will see them add to their haul.
”We were unlucky last year, MKR beat us, but we’ve got our fingers crossed this time,” said Daniel “Beardie” McLaughlin.
“We’re feeling positive, we’ve got it all over the Bondi Vet, we know that much.”
For Jesse Pollock and McLaughlin it will be their first time sitting in the Logies room, but Nicola Atherton promises the newcomers are more than ready to rock the red carpet.
“They’ve got their poses down, they all look smashing in their suits,” she said.
“It’s good to look nice for once,” admitted Pollock.
“The novelty of getting dressed up and not having wet hair for once and wearing shoes is a nice little bonus to our job,” added Atherton.
Carrie Bickmore is favourite to take home the Gold Logie, with Sportsbet putting her odds at $2.25, in front of Asher Keddie at $2.50 and reigning Gold Logie holder Scott Cam at $5.00. And Atherton said that The Project host certainly got her vote in the lead up to the awards.
“I’m a huge fan of Carrie Bickmore’s,” she said. “I had a photo taken with her at the Logies last year, she was sitting on the table behind me which was great.”
Meanwhile the team are also putting bets on who the biggest partier will be from the Bondi Rescue crew.
“We’ll try and give Hoppo a few beers and get him on the dance floor,” said Polock. “He’s pretty good after a few drinks.”
The TV WEEK Logies take place on Sunday night from 7pm on Nine.
