Baby Driver actor, Hudson Meek, dead after ‘falling’ from moving car

The child star of the 2017 hit film Baby Driver has been remembered as “one of a kind” after the 16-year-old died when he fell out of a moving car in the US.

Heartfelt tributes have poured in after a young actor who starred in Baby Driver died aged 16.

Hudson Joseph Meek was killed after he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle in Alabama last week.

The teen actor is said to have sustained blunt force injuries when he fell in an Atlanta suburb last week, according to NBC in the US.

The local coroner’s office later identified the victim as Meek, according to the outlet.

Local news outlets said that he was taken to an Atlanta hospital where he died from his injuries two days later.

It is understood local police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Meek had roles in the major motion picture Baby Driver and appeared in the rebooted TV show MacGyver.

His breakthrough role was as Young Baby in Baby Driver back in 2017, with the film’s main character played by Ansel Elgort.

An obituary paid tribute to Meek, calling him an “accomplished actor”.

“He worked on several major motion pictures and television shows, some of which will be released in 2025,” it read.

“He absolutely loved spending time on set and having the chance to learn the names and stories of every member of the cast and crew.”

The tribute continued: “Hudson’s personality was one of a kind. He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted.

“He never let the facts get in the way of a funny story, and he loved friendly banter.

“He was a prankster, loved a good joke, and was happiest when he was making others laugh.

In addition to acting, Meek’s interests included sports, travelling and being with his close friends.

The obituary added that Meek attended Vestavia Hills High School and was a member of that school’s football team.

“Hudson thrived in settings that allowed him to meet and serve new people. Hudson was a vibrant and dynamic person who lived life to the fullest.”

A post on Meek’s Instagram account read: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight.

“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The teenager’s professional acting credits date back to 2014, when he starred in the television movie The Santa Con, starring Melissa Joan Hart and Jaleel White.

His other acting credits, according to IMDb, included the MacGyver reboot series, Genius and most recently The School Duel.

Meek’s family has shared they are working on a scholarship for Vestavia Hills High School students in his memory, reports Yahoo.

According to the family, memorial services for Meek will be held later this week.

“He was kind, he was faithful, he was funny and lit up any room. He touched so many lives and will be missed beyond measure.”

“The whole Meek family has been a huge part of our community and was instrumental in making Acting Out and many of our actors what we are today. Our hearts are broken as we continue to pray for them.”
