WELL, we weren’t expecting this from Gaga.
The singer paid tribute to the The Sound of Music at the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday night, and say what you will about the quirky Lady, she’s got a serious set of pipes.
Performing a melody of songs from the iconic 1965 film, including My Favourite Things, Edelweiss and Climb Every Mountain, the engaged star received a standing ovation from the audience.

The stunning medley was met with tears from Julie Andrews who played Maria in the musical, who joined Gaga on stage afterwards, praising her performance.
“I really put my heart into preparing it, and I’m really excited to entertain the nominees tonight,” Gaga said on the red carpet before the ceremony.
Lady Gaga was one of several music acts who performed at the ceremony, along with Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Tim McGraw, Tegan and Sara and Maroon 5. But it was the Bad Romance singer’s flawless montage that really hit the high notes. The 28-year-old’s performance, in honour of the film’s 50th anniversary, is already being called a career defining moment.
