The stars of Australia’s large and small screens will honour the best in the business at the annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (AACTA) Awards in Sydney today.

A name to watch will be Damon Herriman, who is up for four awards and now holds the record for the most nominations across performance categories in one year. He recently starred as Charles Manson in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and is being recognised for his work on local productions including Judy & Punch and The Nightingale.

Sam Neil will be lauded with the prestigious Longford Lyell Award for his outstanding contribution towards Australia’s screen culture.

Foxtel drama Lambs of God has also made AACTA history with 18 nominations in television, while thriller The Nightingale has collected 15 nominations including Best Film, alongside Hotel Mumbai, Judy & Punch, The King, Top End Wedding and Ride Like a Girl.

The award ceremony follows the first handful of AACTA awards for screen craft and technical prowess, which were handed out on Monday. The big winner from the day was Lambs of God picking up seven out of nine possible awards, while David Michod’s The King took home four.

The AACTA Awards will air on the Seven Network from 8.30pm (AEDT) on Wednesday.
