Extra seats have been released for the Adelaide season of Chess the Musical after producers decided to lift its audience capacity at Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Chess, which opens in Melbourne tonight, will be the first musical to return to 100 per cent capacity in SA since COVID venue restrictions lifted at the end of last month.
Former Neighbours actor Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Australian Idol finalists Paulini and Rob Mills lead an all-star cast in the concert-style production, backed by a 26-piece orchestra and 40-voice choir.
Producer Adrian Storey said the show has just four performances at Her Majesty’s from May 27-29, and had sold out its Melbourne season.
“I’m genuinely overwhelmed by the public response and enthusiasm,” Mr Storey said.
“With these highly sought-after additional seats on sale, I hope everybody gets the chance to see it.”
Featuring music by ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, with lyrics by Tim Rice, Chess includes the 1984 hit singles One Night in Bangkok and I Know Him So Well.
Tickets are on sale now at BASS.
