Konstantin Shamray and Michael Ierace had originally planned their Elder Hall concert on Friday, April 3, to feature four hands on one piano – but social distancing means the duo will now have to play their parts on separate keyboards.
Elder Conservatorium will also live stream the lunchtime performance as part of its revised Concert Series due to coronavirus restrictions.
Concert Series manager Martin Victory says that, while it is unfortunate they are not permitted to have a physical audience, online streaming will actually allow more people to tune in.
“The ability to live stream means we can now share these beautiful pieces of music around the world,” Martin says.
“With little in the way of good news lately, we are pleased to be doing something that we hope will bring joy to those who tune in.”
The program will consist of Stravinsky’s Petrushka andselections from Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances.
“Konstantin and Michael are both outstanding pianists,” Martin says. “As solo artists they’ve performed all over the world, winning fans on every continent, but we have the privilege of them being staff members at the University of Adelaide.”
The live stream is free and starts at 1.10pm on Friday, April 3, with access from 12.45pm on the Concert Series web page or Elder Conservatorium’s Facebook page.
For those unable to view the live performance, recordings will be available online afterwards.
