The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra has cancelled its remaining major concerts until the end of this year, or postponed them until 2021.

However, the ASO will continue to perform its community centre and schools programs, as well as the Classics Unwrapped in the Barossa and Mozart at Elder Hall shows, with reduced venue capacities.

ASO managing director Vincent Ciccarello said the decision was due to several factors, including travel restrictions which will prevent soloists and conductors from coming to SA.

“This, along with social distancing, has an impact on each performance venue’s capacity and the concert’s financial viability,” he said.

The ASO’s Aretha Franklin tribute concerts and Beethoven: The Symphonies series will be rescheduled for next year.
