Sophie Monk narrowly avoided a wardrobe malfunction in a low-cut gown and pop star Halsey turned heads in a bizarre two-piece outfit at the 2019 ARIA Awards.
The Without Me singer strutted the red carpet wearing a crop top and matching ball gown-style skirt, complete with multi-coloured scribble on it, just days after appearing at the American Music Awards.
Monk had her glam squad on hand at Sydney’s The Star – with hilarious Beyonce-style wind machines (aka leaf blowers) in tow – to ensure she achieved the perfect red carpet shot.
Here's how Monk’s dramatic entrance played out.
Wearing a Velani gown, bombshell Monk brushed past reporters pre-show and instead let her poses do the talking, in scenes reminiscent of Lady Gaga’s elaborate, tongue-in-cheek entrance at this year’s Met Gala.
Of course, the former Bardot singer documented it all on social media, showing how she had earlier practised her poses ahead of the red carpet display.
Later in the night, Monk presented the ARIA for Best Country Album in a choice that seemed to baffle even her.
“The only country thing about me, I’d say, is the fact that I know the Nut Bush. You know it, sing it with me: “Nut bush city yeah … Is that country? OK, no-one’s joining in,” she said.
Other notable ARIAs style moments came from Samantha Jade – channelling Barbie in highlighter-pink – as well as DJ Havana Brown in a daring thigh-split
Dua Lipa looked comparatively demure in a strapless, feather-trimmed satin minidress, and messy bun updo.

Meantime, Brown also showed a lot of flesh at Sydney’s The Star in a halter-neck dress with a hip-high split and side cut-outs, leaving us wondering how she was able to sit down during the VVVIP ceremony.
Speaking ahead of the ARIAs, Jade told Confidential: “I’m looking forward to seeing Dua Lipa, I love her I’m a huge fan and Guy Sebastian is hosting so I’m excited to see him”.
Up for eight awards this year, Tones and I was set to perform at the ARIAs for the first time after recently debuting her hit song Dance Monkey live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Country star Morgan Evans, who was nominated for two awards including Song of The Year for Day Drunk, had a pinch-yourself moment.
“Performing is a big deal, that’s what I love doing. The ARIAs is an awards show that I grew up watching on TV as a kid,” Evans said on the red carpet.
Lipa, the most-streamed UK female artist of 2017, was joined by US stars Halsey and Khalid as special guests, both fresh from collecting AMAs in Los Angeles this week.
“I love dancing now I have time to get comfortable with it,” Lipa told News Corp, ahead of her ARIAs appearance.
“I’ve done so much rehearsal that whenever I am going on an awards show and I get a bit nervous, I tell myself I can literally do this in my sleep because I’ve done it so many times.”
Out of the 10 ARIAs performers, four were by female solo artists — Tones and I, Thelma Plum, Halsey and herself – with Hilltop Hoods also featuring vocalist Ecca Vandal in their set.
“For me, the (awards) recognition as a woman, to see so many women appointed and nominated and given the opportunity to perform, this is what is important and why I feel awards are now more focused on the artist,” Lipa told News Corp.
It was a momentous night for boy band Human Nature who – after thirty years and 13 studio albums – were inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame.
Speaking pre-ARIAs, Dom Dolla told News Corp that he recently remixed Lipa’s song Don’t Start Now.
“Working with her voice has been incredible,” he said, en route inside The Star.
Oh and Instagram star Martha Kalifatidis from Married At First Sight debuted a new haircut – not a song – ahead of the ceremony.
