Eddie McGuire has had much to say about his late, great friend Shane Warne, but one story which hasn’t been recounted in the past fortnight is the tale of McGuire tipping Warnie towards Chinese herbalist Dr Shuquan Liu.

Dr Lui was the diet guru who advised everyone from Aussie John Symond to Malcolm Turnbull to Larry Emdur to give up eating food in “lui” (sic intended) of drinking herbal tea and eating cucumbers.

Symond paid Lui around $2000 to help him shed 20kg, while Turnbull reportedly dropped 14kg in a month in 2012.

Lui could seemingly do no wrong until the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal found him guilty of unsatisfactory conduct.

Shortly after, patients of Liu’s Melbourne clinic were told he had “suddenly retired”, but the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) website stated his registration has been suspended.

McGuire famously dropped 15kg in three weeks on the radical diet before recommending it to his mate.

STINSON AND FAY TIE THE KNOT

Her promotion to the role as Seven Network Director of Morning Television wasn’t the only moment worth celebrating in Sarah Stinson’s house last week.

Stinson also found time — post birth of new baby and pre-starting her enormous new job — to squeeze in a quickie wedding on Saturday.

The 41-year-old producer married her partner of eight years, Sam Fay, a former sales rep at Seven, in a private ceremony at the couple’s eastern suburbs home.

A party of nine, including the couple’s parents, two young children Francesca and Harry, and siblings, joined Stinson for a surprise backyard wedding at which guests danced to Carol King and ate pizza.

The bride wore a versatile knee-length white dress paired with white sneakers.

She later posted: “After 8 years, 2 children, a million adventures and a whole lot of love … we’re married!”

ESTATE AGENT TO THE STARS FAREWELLED

One of Sydney’s highest profile real estate agents, Bart Doff, was farewelled on Monday at a funeral at an eastern suburbs synagogue.

Doff, 75, lost his battle with cancer this month.

During a 40-year career, Double Bay-based Doff sold some of Sydney’s most splendid homes. Mourners at his small service included his chief property rival Bill Malouf, “Aussie John” Symond, and socialite turned estate agent Victoria Morish.

Very highly regarded in the real estate industry, Doff began his career as an engineer working in the gold mining fields of South Africa.

He is survived by his family, including his real estate agent son Danny.
