An Oscars voter has revealed what they really think about some of the Academy Award nominees

ONE of the Academy members who gets to cast a vote for the winners has slammed Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Gravity and other nominees.

JUST days out from the Oscars, one of the Academy members who gets to cast a vote for the winners has revealed what he/she really thinks of this year’s nominees.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the “long-time member of the Academy’s 377-member director’s branch,” had some scathing comments about Gravity, Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep, just to name a few.

Here are some of the harshest comments:

Captain Phillips: “Struck me as a slightly hokey, overacted, not particularly gripping action movie.”

12 Years a Slave: “Contrary to what some have asserted, it’s not as if it required great courage to make that movie — maybe if you made it in Mississippi in 1930.”

Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity director): “Cuaron was part of a committee of technicians who made that movie, and I have seen things at the planetarium that were at least as impressive.”

Leonardo DiCaprio (nominated for Wolf of Wall Street): “DiCaprio has been better; this is a popcorn performance.”

Meryl Streep (nominated for August: Osage County): “For Streep, whom I love, this is a bottom-drawer performance.”

Ouch.

Jared Leto (nominated for Dallas Buyers Club): “He’s getting tremendous points because of the person he’s playing more than the way he played it, which is as close to pandering as you can get.”
