WHEN Matt Stewart walks into the spotlight he looks like another hipster guy with a scruffy beard, trying to have a go at being funny.
But he is far from that, he knows his stuff, even if his comedic style is untraditional.
In his SA premiere of Dry Ginger Male, Stewart speaks about masculinity, culture, politics, Adelaide’s love-hate relationship with Melbourne and football, all in his trademark dry humour.
Stewart delivers in a monotone manner and the show lacks energy, but it is what he is going for, and it sets him apart from other performers.
However, it is his audience interaction and off-the-cuff jokes where he really shines and gets the most reaction.
Although some jokes do not get laugh he expects, Stewart is a unique, witty performer who gives an interesting perspective on everyday situations.
