An Adelaide Fringe performer who was spat on by a “serial heckler” has defended his decision to fight back.

Rashaun Daniels, an American performer known as Basketball Man, was busking in Rundle Mall on Monday, when a young man confronted him, spitting in his face.

The incident was captured on video, and shows Mr Daniels being confronted by a man in a hoodie, who yells in his face before spitting at him and attempting to run away.

He told 7 News that the heckler had been trying to sabotage his performances every day over the past week.

“You can’t just go around spitting on people,” Mr Daniels said.

“I don’t want to fight him, I don’t want any drama. I don’t come out here for that.”
