PREPARE for a captivating hour of sweet music and broken hearts.
Through the evocative music of Tom Waits, Marisa Quigley tells the tragic noir-style tale of Romeo and Rosie — Rosie a symbol of everything that is pure and good in the world, and Romeo a troubled man and the opposite of everything she represents.
In true film noir style, Romeo casts a spell on Rosie and drags her into the darkness with him, the two characters circling a plughole of sin and regret.
Rosie has been tainted and Romeo must live with the fact he has forever tarnished something so beautiful.
Quigley is phenomenal, perfectly bringing the narrative to life with a spoken word performance perfectly delivered with breathy anticipation and compellingly weaving the tragic storyline through some wonderful interpretations of Waits’ oeuvre.
And the band is rock solid, stunningly supporting the gifted Quigley.
Flawless music and faultless storytelling, this is a journey you shouldn’t miss.
