Purple people and even a Premier partied like it was 1999, dancing at their seats in this DJ set of songs by the artist formerly known as alive.
Late Nite Tuff Guy, aka Cam Bianchetti, spun all Prince’s big 80s hits (often the 12-inch versions), some deeper classics like Head and Party Up, B-sides including Erotic City and 17 Days, and even the a capella oddity For You.
There were also proteges like Vanity 6’s Nasty Girl and Chaka Khan’s cover of I Feel For You.
Aside from a few samples of My Name Is Prince, the playlist – accompanied by big-screen video and lighting effects – barely strayed into the 90s, let alone later. Which was exactly how most people would have wanted it.
