ABC newsreader taken off the air after repeatedly swearing

ABC Radio Adelaide listeners were shocked to hear an expletive-ridden news report go to air during the 10pm bulletin on Saturday night.

Appearing to be struggling, the newsreader can be heard clicking a computer mouse before abruptly throwing to a prerecorded story about the Brisbane COVID case.

However, once the audio package starts playing, he can be heard screaming “f**k off’ over the top. The same thing happened during the following story regarding China’s wine tariffs.

The outburst caught the attention of listeners who took to Twitter including Channel 7 reporter, and former ABC radio announcer, Michael Smyth who posted on Twitter: “What the hell is going on at @abcnews? 10pm radio newsreader sounded completely out of it. They loudly shouted “f**k off” twice and were replaced halfway through the bulletin.”

It is believed that he was broadcasting from ABC’s Sydney studios.

The newsreader involved in the incident has been a radio and television presenter and reporter for 35 years.

According to his bio he has worked in commercial radio and television and has been with ABC News Radio since 2013.

An ABC spokesperson said it was investigating: We’re looking into what happened and making sure that our staff member is OK.
