Prince Alfred College appoints David Roberts to lead school from mid-2022

Prince Alfred College has appointed a new headmaster, who brings interstate experience to lead the prestigious Adelaide boys’ school.

Prestigious Adelaide school Prince Alfred College has recruited a new headmaster with high-level experience interstate.

David Roberts will become headmaster of PAC from term 3 in 2022, replacing Bradley Fenner, who will retire after eight years in the role.

Mr Roberts will move to South Australia from Newington College, in NSW, where he has been deputy headmaster and head of that school’s Stanmore campus.

His previous experience included leadership positions at Geelong Grammar (Timbertop campus), St Leonard’s College and Caulfield Grammar.

“During his six-year tenure at Newington, David has delivered significant improvements in academic performance, pastoral care programs, the boarding experience, policy, risk management, and staff engagement and wellbeing,” PAC council chairman Richard Hockney said.

Mr Roberts said he, his wife, Sofie, and their two teenage children were looking forward to the move.

“Walking into the college, there’s an immediate sense of pride and purpose,” Mr Roberts said.

Newington College headmaster Michael Parker said his school was sad to see Mr Roberts leave.

“He has handled an innumerable number of complex issues in his time here with his trademark fairness, clarity, judgment and resolve,” he said.
