Celebrity chef Simon Bryant will be serving up something special for fans at next month’s Adelaide International tennis tournament.
The Tasting Australia festival director will be cooking for guests at the new tournament’s opening-night charity event, Rally for Resilience.
An excited Bryant says he’s in awe of the world-class tennis players who are on their way, headlined by Novak Djokovic, Venus Williams, Simona Halep and Angelique Kerber and Australian world number one Ash Barty.
“I totally don’t understand tennis, but I totally respect it,” says Bryant, who will be courtside in the new Aperol Sundeck lounge area.
“They are the modern-day gladiators. I love their tenacity and their discipline. I love competition and I love seeing people at their best.”
The twilight session on January 12 will feature an exhibition doubles match including Halep and Kerber, along with the first official men’s singles match of the tournament. Veteran tennis coach Roger Rasheed says Rally for Resilience, which will support the Australian Tennis Foundation and his own Roger Rasheed Sports Foundation, is the ideal way to kick off the week-long event.
“Tennis players bring their own character and flair, and now with Simon we’ve got the flair with the food. They complement each other,” he says.
“There’s world-class entertainment, on and off the court. I can’t wait.”
