Boneshaker cafe, with its “healthy fast food” loved by parents and children, has had the door shut on its first outlet – with the closure of indoor bike adventure site Pumpt in Marleston.
But Billy Petropoulos’s cafe has opened in the Port Adelaide Plaza shopping centre, and another is set to open at Noarlunga’s Colonnades Shopping Centre in seven weeks.
Billy has successfully opened three – and counting – Boneshaker cafes in China, and he is on the lookout to replace the Marion Rd cafe, particularly if a sporting site became available.
Billy said they catered for 20-30 birthday parties a week at Pumpt and “there are definitely a lot of children who have been saddened by this.”
“I did experiment for six months in a soccer stadium,” Billy said. “But there weren’t enough people to continue … It has to be big enough, like Pumpt was.”
Billy said they had nurtured the seed of Boneshaker at Marleston and it has grown into a blossoming tree.
