Will you need to be double jabbed to enjoy the Ashes, Fringe, Womad or a trip to the zoo?

With SA about to open up to the rest of the world, events have been announcing their policies around vaccination. From the Ashes to the Zoo, here’s everything you need to know.

SA borders to reopen to fully vaccinated on November 23 as roadmap revealed

With South Australia opening up to the world on November 23, will you need to be double jabbed to enjoy Adelaide’s high-profile events? And what about everyday events like going to the zoo? Here’s everything you need to know.

ADELAIDE CONVENTION CENTRE
Adelaide Venue Management, which runs the convention centre, announced that from November 23, anyone aged 16 and over must be fully vaccinated to conventions or events at the centre.

ADELAIDE FESTIVAL
March 4-20

There are currently no requirements for attendees to be double jabbed. Organisers will follow the SA Health mandate but have said that, based on their experience of European event models, full vaccination would be best.

ADELAIDE FRINGE
February 18 to March 20

Fringe officials have also said it will wait to follow the State Government and SA Health mandates on vaccination requirements. Individual Fringe hubs and venues must also have their own Covid-safe plans.

A-LEAGUE, COOPERS STADIUM
Adelaide Venue Management, which runs the stadium, announced that from November 23, anyone aged 16 and over must be fully vaccinated to attend concerts and events at the centre.

ADELAIDE OVAL SECOND ASHES TEST

December 16-20 and Adelaide Strikers BBL and WBBL games at Adelaide Oval
November, December, January

From November 23, full vaccination will be required for all staff and volunteers, anyone attending games, functions or events, all visitors to the stadium, all RoofClimb and tour participants, all suppliers and contractors. Unvaccinated people entering the Oval will be removed and face a three year ban.

ADELAIDE ZOO
From December 1, 2021, visitors aged 16 and over will be required to present proof of vaccination (or a vaccination exemption from the Chief Public Health Officer). A requirement that visitors wear face masks in indoor areas where social distancing is not possible came into effect on November 13. Find out more here.

FAITH NO MORE, ADELAIDE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE
February 21

Adelaide Venue Management, which runs the AEC, announced that from November 23, anyone aged 16 and over must be fully vaccinated to attend concerts and events at the centre.

FESTIVAL OF ORCHESTRA (FOFO)
November 24 to December 4

The Adelaide Symphony Orchestra’s six ticketed outdoor evening concerts at Adelaide Showground do not currently require proof of vaccination for patrons. The event adheres to recommended densities and Covid-safe protocols. At this time, masks must be worn, except when in your seat, and QR check-in is mandatory.

GLUTTONY, RYMILL PARK

February 17-March 20

This popular Adelaide Fringe hub has announced it will require audience members to be fully-vaccinated to attend next year’s event.

Gluttony director Daniel Michael said the mandate will ensure the health and safety of its guests at Rymill Park and provide 100 per cent capacity for shows. Read more.

MONARTO ZOO

Same policy as Adelaide Zoo applies. From December 1, 2021, visitors aged 16 and over will be required to present proof of vaccination (or a vaccination exemption from the Chief Public Health Officer). A requirement that visitors wear face masks in indoor areas where social distancing is not possible came into effect on November 13. Find out more here.

SKY CITY ADELAIDE CASINO

In a statement on Thursday, November 18, a spokeswoman said: “SkyCity Adelaide strongly supports the vaccination of staff and customers and is currently working through the TTIQ (Testing, Tracing, Isolation and Quarantine) modelling”.

SUMMERSALT MUSIC FESTIVAL, GLENELG
March 20

This outdoor music event, which will feature Australian artists including The Teskey Brothers and Kasey Chambers, currently does not require proof of vaccination for patrons. But the promoter says that may change and they will follow the State Government and SA Health mandates on vaccination requirements for large concerts and events at the time of the show.

WOMADELAIDE
March 11-14

The world music festival was the state’s first major event to announce it will require full Covid vaccination when it returns to Botanic Park. Everyone over the age of 16 will need two vaccine doses to purchase tickets or be admitted on site. QR codes must also be scanned to enter the park and separate areas near the front of each stage.
