South Australian authorities will have a much tighter rein on visitors with mandatory QR coding replacing a ticketing system.
The QR code process, which began at midnight Tuesday, replaces the six-month old system which used “admit one” tickets held by travellers to be shown to authorities to prove they had recorded their entry.
The novelty of ticket system prompted social media hilarity from travellers in February, who likened them to “circus admission”, “the meat tray” and “the movies in the old days”.
The process begins with all travellers who wish to enter South Australia filling in an online Cross Border Travel Registration prior to travel.
Before arrival travellers will receive an email from police with contains a link allowing them to automatically self-check-in upon arrival.
Travellers should download the mySA GOV app from Google Play or the App Store prior to travel to South Australia.
They then use the COVID Safe Check-In to scan a QR code specific to the Adelaide Airport immediately after their arrival, or use their smartphone camera until they can download the app.
The alternative is to provide relevant contact details in writing. Once in South Australia, travellers must use the COVID SAfe Check-In when arriving at every business, or provide details in writing.
