About 600 people who attended the Taylor Swift themed event at Metro Theatre almost a week ago will have to isolate for seven days after NSW Health declared they were all close contacts and the event had become a Covid “venue of concern”.

At least 97 cases have been linked to the On Repeat: Taylor Swift Party, with some “likely” to be Omicron infections.

Video of the concert posted on video app TikTok showed hundreds of Swifties packed tightly into the Metro Theatre, belting out Taylor Swift songs beneath flashing lights as a DJ played their favourite tracks - completely unaware of the virus circulating in the crowd around them.

As they wait to hopefully make it out of isolation on December 23, partygoers have shared their thoughts on the night they never expected would land them in isolation just a week out from Christmas.

A raft of TikToks posted online showed Swifties‘ varying reactions to the situation.

One posted a picture of her positive test result, which will see her stuck in isolation and potentially miss out on Christmas.

“Thanks Tay Tay party for giving me Covid, Merry Christmas everyone.”

Another aimed her frustration at the state government.

“Me to my family after potentially exposing them to Covid after going to a Taylor Swift club night,” she wrote.

“Shout out to the NSW govt (sic) for taking away all Covid restrictions as cases continue to rise.”

A third captioned a video of herself dancing in her home: “Anyone else personally victimised by the Taylor Swift night? I didn‘t even go!”

Other Swifties joined in within the comments section.

“I swear you can‘t go anywhere anymore,” one commented.

“Taylor got us good,” another wrote.

“Maybe she‘ll write a song about this,” a third quipped.

A statement from NSW Health about the album party said: “NSW Health is urgently contacting 600 people who attended Metro Theatre at this time and checked in via the QR code and is directing them and members of their households to immediately get tested and follow public health advice.”

Isolation requirements end seven days after potential exposure to Covid, meaning attendees will be free from strict isolation rules as early as Saturday - as long as they have returned a negative PCR test.

Close contacts must avoid certain high risk venues until two weeks have passed since they were exposed. They must get a PCR test 12 days after their exposure.

It comes as health authorities confirmed a fourth venue of concern and new exposure times in Newcastle.

The Great Northern Hotel, Finnegans Hotel and The Cambridge Hotel in the regional city have had exposure times updated after authorities linked more than 50 confirmed Covid cases to the three venues at the times listed- with some “likely” to be Omicron.

Anyone who was at The Great Northern Hotel from 12:01am until close on December 11, at Finnegan’s Hotel between 7pm until close on December 11, or The Cambridge Hotel from 7pm until close on December 11 or 6pm until close on December 12 must get monitor for symptoms and tested and isolate if they appear.

Infections continue to emerge from Argyle House, where the city’s cluster first began after a 20 year-old man breached isolation rules.

It comes as authorities have also changed rules for visitors to healthcare settings just days before Christmas, meaning families could be kept apart as NSW’s Covid outbreak deepens.

NSW Health announced on Thursday night that visitors would again be “limited” to healthcare facilities, meaning only those with essential or compassionate reasons like people supporting women in labour, carers of children in hospital and those visiting people in palliative care allowed in on a “case-by-case” bases.

“We have temporarily restricted visitors to healthcare facilities due to increasing transmission rates with the emergence of the Omicron variant,” a statement from NSW Health read.

“We have not made this decision lightly. We must always prioritise our vulnerable patients and staff... health settings more than any other setting in the community necessitate added caution given the impact transmission events can have on staff and patients.”

Anyone who qualifies for a visitor exemption will need to be fully vaccinated, wear a mask and follow health advice from staff.
