Coronavirus Adelaide: Tears as SA passengers arriving in WA put into quarantine as they touched down

Passengers on route to WA were forced to go into quarantine as soon as they touched down, after the discovery of a new coronavirus cluster in Adelaide.

SA records four locally-acquired coronavirus cases

South Australian businessman Albert Bensimon was meant to be staying in Perth for a week but has been forced to quarantine instead, following the discovery of a new coronavirus cluster in Adelaide.

The Western Australian government has imposed two weeks’ quarantine on all passengers flying in from SA.

Mr Bensimon said he will now board a flight back this morning after spending Sunday night in hotel quarantine in Perth.

“They didn’t say anything terrible intelligent, they just told us that they didn’t know what was going on and we would have to wait,” Mr Benison said.

“And then they said there had been three cases in a quarantine hotel (in SA), and one outside of the quarantine hotel and because of that, they weren’t letting anyone into WA.

The number of cases has jumped to 17 overnight.

Mr Bensimon said he had flown to Perth for business reasons.

“We were here for business, and pleasure, a lot of pleasure, but the pleasure is gone.

“There was one woman crying, obviously, she didn’t have the finances.

“The others seemed to be OK.”

“You guys are very strict (in WA), Australia is doing well, so who can complain.

Asked if quarantine was warranted he said was “very harsh”

“ I think you’re (WA authorities) taking it a little bit over board but it’s your call.”
