Families are hitting the roller-skating rink in droves, as they look for a fun and affordable activity to enjoy in a COVID-safe environment.
Rinks at Blackwood and St Clair say since reopening following the coronavirus lockdown, many sessions have booked out. A temporary rink set up by Holdfast Bay Council in Moseley Square, Glenelg, for the school holidays has been equally as popular, with next week’s sessions on track to sell out.
Mayor Amanda Wilson said Bay City Rolling was set up to offer an “affordable, fun-for-all-ages” event that met COVID-safe guidelines.
“Being in a large marquee that can be opened up in nice weather, this roller-skating event is a safe, low-density activity which allows people to have fun going out again without spending a fortune,” Ms Wilson said.
She said feedback had been “fantastic”, with the weekend roller discos proving most popular.
