More than 20 residents and staff at a Port Noarlunga nursing home have tested positive for Covid-19.
ACH Group confirmed 16 residents and six staff at its Perry Park home have contracted the virus.
It also said it had activated its outbreak management plans at three of its other residential care homes where there were positive cases.
“ACH Group is working closely with SA Health and acting in accordance with their
recommendations on controlling the spread of COVID-19,” the company said in a statement.
“The health, safety and wellbeing of residents and staff remains our highest priority.
“Residents’ families and representatives are receiving daily communications from ACH
Group via phone, email or virtual meetings.
“ACH Group would also like to acknowledge its workforce, which is responding admirably
to the challenging and changing circumstances.”
It comes as more than 40 staff at disability provider Minda have tested positive, forcing another 200 into isolation – as families of clients raise concerns about a “hard lockdown” in place at the Brighton campus.
Six Minda clients are also infected and one has been hospitalised “as a precaution”, but the organisation insists no resident at Brighton has tested positive or shown signs of being unwell.
Despite that, the campus has been locked down since Christmas Eve and families have been repeatedly told clients may leave but Minda cannot guarantee they will be allowed to return.
A week ago, Bene Aged Care in St Agnes had 25 cases, including 21 residents.
SA Health was called in to manage that outbreak.
