Ten News veteran Hugh Riminton has outed himself as the reporter chastised on national television by the daughter of John F. Kennedy.
New US ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy touched down in the country to begin her posting on Friday morning.
But her much anticipated arrival was overshadowed by an exchange with Ten News’ Mr Riminton.
The awaiting press pack was eager to put its questions to the new ambassador, talking over each other as they tried to get her attention.
“Did you just talk over the woman?” the ambassador asked Mr Riminton.
She looked directly at him for a beat before laughing it off and returned focus to the awaiting reporter.
“Well, okay, she started,” Ms Kennedy added.
The remainder of the press conference went off without a hitch, with Ms Kennedy answering a range of questions about subjects from the Pacific, to Mr Biden’s recent Covid-19 diagnosis.
Mr Riminton later “outed” himself on social media as the male reporter in question.
“Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I think it only fair that I out myself as the reporter who the new US Ambassador-designate Caroline Kennedy ticked off for ‘talking over a woman’ at her press conference,” he tweeted.

Ms Kennedy, 64, is the last surviving child of former President John F. Kennedy.
The US Senate unanimously confirmed her ambassadorship in May and she was sworn in on June 10.
Speaking to reporters shortly after landing at Sydney Airport, Ms Kennedy said she couldn’t wait to sink her teeth into the “big agenda”.
“Everybody is so excited about working together in the Quad and in the Pacific. So there’s a big agenda and I can’t wait to get started,” she said.
“Personally, this means a great deal to me. My husband is here with me. We first came to Australia on our honeymoon 36 years ago, almost exactly because three days ago was our anniversary.
“I can’t believe that I’m lucky enough to get a chance to serve here and to live here and get to know even more people.”
Ms Kennedy succeeds Arthur Culvahouse, who departed in early 2021, when former president Donald Trump left office.
It is the second high-profile posting for Ms Kennedy, who served as the ambassador to Japan in the Obama administration.
In a video message ahead of her arrival, the new ambassador vowed to strengthen the US-Australia relationship through further engagement in the region and action on climate change.
