A disgruntled business owner has shared footage of an Australia Post delivery man after CCTV captured his act on camera.

Business owner slams Australia Post for 'lazy' delivery attempt

A business owner has slammed Australia Post after capturing a postie’s “lazy” delivery attempt on CCTV.

Posting to social media on Tuesday, the frustrated customer uploaded the footage after their post was not delivered to their business in Newcastle in the NSW Hunter Region.

The customer was inside at the time and no attempt was made by the postie to deliver the post – only a collection card.

“This is apparently Australia Post’s idea of attempting to deliver a registered post item,” the customer said.

“I was in my office with a client at the time, with a big ‘open’ sign in the window.”

Others flooded the comments to share similar experiences, calling the conduct “lazy” and “not good enough”.

“Know how ya feel, I got a parcel on (the) way at the moment from Tamworth to Newcastle, so far it has been Queensland and is now in Perth lol,” one person said.

“Most of the time Aus Post can’t get my mail to my house, they leave it the next suburb over,” said another.

“As for parcel delivery … they only drop notices and dump all parcels at the post office once they are finished at the pub for the day,” another person commented.

Multiple commenters exclaimed that it would have been “easier” and “have taken just as long to have knocked on the door”, while others urged the poster to make a complaint with Australia Post.

Posties are required to knock three times before leaving a collection card, unless there are safety issues or no clear access.

Australia Post told NCA NewsWire on Thursday that it was reviewing the matter as it clearly did not meet delivery standards.

“Australia Post prides itself on the work it does every day to deliver around the country, and has strict protocols in place for items such as registered mail,” a spokesperson told NCA NewsWire.

“Should any delivery not meet the high standards we expect from our team members, we take immediate steps to address this, and as such we’re looking carefully into the matter raised by this customer.

“Australia Post encourages members of the community to contact us directly about any delivery issues so that we can take action accordingly. In this instance, we would like to extend our sincere apologies to the customer for any inconvenience caused.”
